Can't edit crontab

Yep, nano is installed:
$ which.exe nano
/usr/bin/nano
The way I set the EDITOR var to nano is:
$ EDITOR=nano;
And if i type "EDITOR" nano editor is opened. But when I run crontab -e
I get the crontab edited by vi(m) again.
