- Cygwin is a POSIX emulation layer.  Please use slashes, not backslashes:

- The default prefix for drive letters is /cygdrive, not /cygwin:

- Using the UNC notation with two leading slashes for network paths is
  allowed in Cygwin.  Examples are throughout the entire User's Guide
  section:
