EMACS key mapping problem

After I did a updating for my cygwin, the directory name for the emacs
is now 23.2.

I checked with 'info calc', and learned the command to start should be
'C-x *'.  So, 'M-#' is incorrect, and was got from a manual on the
net.  Thanks!
