'x' key not working in cygwin shell

  The impressive bit is that it's usually the 'e' key that fails when there
are CRLF line endings in .inputrc, but he still nailed it in one despite this
being a complaint about the letter 'x'!

  (As for the solution to the mystery, just see how many times it's come up in
the archives down the years....)
