The need for cygwin

Nonsense. There are a million answers to that question and one can as 
easily ask "Why have a gui when you can have a command line?" The answer 
is there a place for both. People coming to install Cygwin often have a 
need for a good command line, and all that that entails. You could also 
ask "If you have a GUI why VMWare a Linux box, etc.". You do know that 
there are things that a command line is better for than a GUI.
