I recommend protecting it to avoid repeating the process and getting
broken links; this should work (and also leaves $HOME alone if any of
the steps fail):

case "$HOME" in
   *$*)  cd /home &&  ln -s "$HOME" ./csmith && cd ./csmith && HOME="${PWD}";;
esac
