Compiling Cygwin on Linux

Hi,

I was wondering how one would compile cygwin-src on linux.
    I currently have a binutils and stage 1 gcc (a.la. "make all-gcc;
    make install-gcc") targeted for i686-pc-cygwin.
    I have tried the following
    ~/build_cygwin$ uname -a
    Linux gcc14 2.6.18-6-vserver-amd64 #1 SMP Sun Feb 10 17:55:04 UTC
    2008 x86_64 GNU/Linux
    ~/build_cygwin$ export CC=i686-pc-cygwin-gcc
    ~/build_cygwin$ ~/cygwin-1.5.25-11/configure
    --prefix=/home/rpeckhoff/boot_system/ --host=i686-pc-cygwin
    --build=x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu -v

    I get the following:
    loading cache ./config.cache
    checking host system type... i686-pc-cygwin
    checking target system type... i686-pc-cygwin
    checking build system type... x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu
checking for a BSD compatible install... /usr/bin/install -c
    checking whether ln works... yes
checking whether ln -s works... yes
    checking for i686-pc-cygwin-gnatbind... no
    checking for gnatbind... gnatbind
checking whether compiler driver understands Ada... no
checking how to compare bootstrapped objects... cmp
    --ignore-initial=16 $$f1 $$f2
checking for correct version of gmp.h... no
    /home/rpeckhoff/boot_system/bin/../lib/gcc/i686-pc-cygwin/4.3.0/../../../../i686-pc-cygwin/bin/ld:
crt0.o: No such file: No such file or directory
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
    *** The command 'i686-pc-cygwin-gcc -o conftest -g -O2 conftest.c'
    failed.
*** You must set the environment variable CC to a working compiler.

Does anyone know what the right configure flags for cygwin configure
are? crt0.o is supposed to be compiled by cygwin. Thanks in advance.

    ~Robert
