Thanks for the answer. I'll keep the contribution part in mind. I should do fairly well with a generic pthread manual, source code, grep and emacs for the time being.

The documentation of cygwin is notoriously out-of-date.  Care to help by
contributing patches?  Meanwhile, the BEST answer to whether something
works is to try it, or to look at the source code and see if it is
available there (this is an open source project, after all).

Once you have access to source, winsup/cygwin/cygwin.din lists all
exported functions available in cygwin.

The source code is the most up-to-date documentation (although not
necessarily the most readable :), unless people contribute doc patches.
