pdksh, set -o vi strange new behavior

After recent update && rebaseall began having the following strange 
behavior.
the command line sequence escape slash ( to search through history ( 
pdsh with set -o vi ))
causes what appears to be two returns to be input...

I.E, with cursor sitting after '$' as shown below ( my prompt is two 
lines )..

$


keying <ESC>/  results in ....

WS-XP-4960: /home/rthompso>
WS-XP-4960: /home/rthompso>
WS-XP-4960: /home/rthompso>
$ /



cygcheck -s  is attached.
