Problem creating files on network drives with cygwin 1.5.10-3 and tar

There's a known problem in these snapshots which are related to a
change in newlib.  Yes, it breaks pipes in a horrible way.  Unless
we can't straighten that problem out, the snapshots will remain
broken.  I'm trying to find a solution right now.
