GNU make and VPATH problems

I have had a similar problem on my project.  It seems to work on some 
machines at my company and not others.  At this point I think it might have
something to do with which OS (ie XP vs 2k, with it not working on XP).  I
will try running a debug build as well.

I am really curious if this has been logged as a bug against gnu make.
