French keyboard

Thanks for the information. However, changing the autoexec.bat file
has no effect, since after rebooting, the previous autexec.bat file
returns, i.e., my changes are forgotten by the system. Moreover, my
autoexec.bat file does not even contain a keyboard command line, only
PATH setting. Thus, it may be possible that the problem, and therefore
the solution lies at a deeper level of DOS horribleness.

   For DOS I guess you have to look in the `c:\autoexec.bat' in the
   Windows root directory: In mine I read:

   mode con codepage select=850
   keyb uk,,c\windows\COMMAND\keyboard.sys

   I guess that your get a similar line:
   so you can try to set a new keyboard by modifying this line and reboot your
   computer.
