[ANNOUNCEMENT] New on sources: cron-3.0.1-1

I have uploaded version 3.0.1-1 of cron.

This is the Cygwin port of Paul Vixie's cron-3.0.1. Note that on NT/W2K
it relies on the Cygwin-1.3.2 feature to be able to switch the user
context without password. On NT/W2K run cron under SYSTEM account
as service to use that feature. Note that you don't have access to
net shares in the child processes then.

=======================================================================
Cron is neither patched for nor tested on 9x/ME. If it doesn't work,
feel free to send me patches to accomodate 9x/ME. If you have problems,
I assume it will have to do with file permission or user identity
checks, probably.

Changes:
========

Everything which is needed to get it compiled and working.

I tweaked especially changing user context and setting file and
directory permissions.

Command line option `-D' added to allow cron to run under
cygrunsrv. Install as service like that:

        cygrunsrv -I cron -p /usr/sbin/cron -a -D

`root' with uid 0 is substituted by `SYSTEM' with uid 18.

$PATH is never destroyed unless a PATH is explicitely given in the
crontab file. In that case you are on your own. Never forget to
add the Windows system directories to $PATH then!

Mail is send using /usr/sbin/ssmtp instead of using sendmail.

The cron dir is "/var/cron".

By default everyone may use crontab. To change that, add an
appropriate allow or deny file (or both). See `man 1 crontab'.

The installation routine installs more stuff.

To update your installation, click on the "Install Cygwin now" link on
the http://cygwin.com web page. This downloads setup.exe to your system.

Run setup and answer all of the questions. The mirrors below have the
latest version of this package:

ftp://mirrors.rcn.net/mirrors/sources.redhat.com/cygwin/ (US)
ftp://ftp.mirror.ac.uk/sites/sourceware.cygnus.com/pub/cygwin/ (UK)
ftp://ftp.uni-erlangen.de/pub/pc/gnuwin32/cygwin/mirrors/cygnus/ (Germany)

Note that if this is the first time that you've run the new GUI version
of setup, it will currently download the whole cygwin net release again.
After this point it will only download what is needed.

If you have questions or comments, please send them to the Cygwin
mailing list at: cygwin@cygwin.com . I would appreciate if you would
use this mailing list rather than emailing me directly. This includes
ideas and comments about the setup utility or Cygwin in general.

If you want to make a point or ask a question the Cygwin mailing list is
the appropriate place.
