Lars has sent me his 3.16 version of ls:

ls --version
ls (GNU fileutils) 3.16

With this version all is working fine. Now

ls -N gives me:
klausÄÖÜ

Now my question: Is this a bug of the 4.0 version of ls or needs
the 4.0 version different settings compared with the 3.16? (which ones?)

Anybody out there who´s 4.0 ls succeds for displaying german (or any other
country) special umlauts like ÄÖÜäöüß?
If yes, which settings in .bashrc, .inputrc, font or codepage are used?

Thanks in advance,
Klaus
