I haven't come up with a simple test case yet.  But, I have some more
information that should be helpful.  It seems that the problem may
actually be a cygipc/fork()/1.1.8 problem.  It appears that
fixup_mmaps_after_fork() is failing on a cygipc shared memory region.
Please see the attached strace and after gunzip-ing, search for "1E980000".

Chuck, any insight?
