USB Programming

Hi,

I was wondering if its possible to access and program for USB devices from 
cygwin?  I'd like to setup a remote debugging system using USB under gdb.   
Is this going to be possible, and where should I look to get started?

PS.  Thanks for the help re Building Cross Compiler for PS2.  I had unzipped 
the archive using WinZip.  I used gzip and tar and everything worked great.  
Now able to compile, next step, debug...
