You are wrong - it is the strstream classes that have been deprecated.

But the answer to the OP is that the current distribution does not include
a complete C++ standard library.  I've not checked lately, but I think both
the stdlib++ and STLPort projects are currently close to complete
implementations.  Either can be "dropped in" with gcc.
