cygwin has a unix-style mount table and path syntax ie sh is found in
/bin/sh or /bin/sh.exe and the mount table identifies to the cygwin1.dll
which is used by all the cygwin-compiled software where on your DOS file
paths /bin actually is.
just start a bash shell and run mount to see your current mount table
