segv when running program with gdb

I just ran the install off the cygwin homepage last
night so I believe I have the latest everything. I
tried to run simple C program with GDB and my program
segfaults. When I run it without gdb everything works
fine. The program is the standard hello world -

#include <stdio.h>

int main(int argc, char** argv)
{
  printf("Hello world!\n");
  return 0;
}

Then
$ gcc -g test.c

Then
$ a.exe
Hello World!

Then
$ gdb a.exe (Note that this brings up the GUI Insight
debugger. I thought that was only in the commercial
version. I can't find a way to just bring up the
command line debugger...)

debug session:

(gdb) run

Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.
