problem with inetd distributed with cygwin

Hi,
 
I can't get the inetd daemon to start 
whitout
displaying the following error messages for every 
service contained in the inetd.conf file:
"bind failed on <service> The descriptor 
is a file, not a socket"
 
I've checked and re-checked my settings (path 
order, latest "official" binaries, mount points, etc.) 
and all seems to be ok.
 
I'm running cygwin on Win98 SE and I wonder if I 
shouldn't try to make in work on NT or w2k.
 
But anyway, if someone has an answer, it would be 
greatly appreciated...
