Try: out=`echo $MY | sed -e 's#\\\\#\\/#g'`

Here is the sample.

>>export MY=\aaa\bbb.c
>>echo $MY | sed -e 's#\\#\/#g'
>> /aaa/bbb.c
>>out=`echo $MY | sed -e 's#\\#\/#g'`
>> sed: -e expression #1, char 8: Unterminated `s' command
