B20: dev-src error
Tue Nov 30 23:39:00 GMT 1999
Just for the heck of it, I downloaded the file in question (dev-src.tar.bz2) from:
bzcat dev-src.tar.bz2 | tar -tvf -
It indexed the entire compressed archive without a hitch - a fairly good indicator
that a tar archive is consistent.
It's likely that your problem is a result of something like a non-binary ftp transfer
(size of dev-src.tar.bz2 = 25143664; sum dev-src.tar.bz2: 41452 1 on my system,
Cygwin CDv1), or something more local to your setup.
> When trying to decompress dev-src.tar.bz2 bzip2 throws up error:
> data integrity <CRC> error in data
> I tried using bzip2recover which produces blocks 1-28 and then errors
> I/O error reading 'dev-src.tar.bz2', possible reason follows
> No such file or directory
> warning: output files(s) may be incomplete.
> I tried this with downloads from 2 (UK) sites with same results.
> Hope this helps you find the problem.
