255 char limit of command buffer when using 'bash -noediting'

Hi,
Is there a way to increase the command buffer limit when
invoking bash with the '-noediting' flag?

Currently it is set at 255 characters. (BTW, I don't have this problem if
I don't use the '-noediting' flag.  But that doesn't help me.)
