Recompiling bash

For some internal professionnal purpose, i'd like to recompile bash with  a few
more specific builtin. Is there specific patch to apply to the source of the
latest bash version to make it work on cygnus (b20.1 egcs-2.91.60) or can i
start from the integral sources ?
