in.telnetd.exe & handles

I am using NTW40, B19, bash 2.01.1(2) inetd and a terminal emulator to
telnet to my machine.

If I monitor the handle counts on in.telnetd.exe I have noticed that it
increases by 5 for every keypress.

This happens on a collegues machine also, again, 5 handles per keypress.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Does anyone have a fix for this?
