Program exited with code 0177777.

Hello,

What exactly does exit code 0177777 signify? I have been trying to allocate
some memory in gcc via the 'new' operator, and my program will exit with
this error code for (seemingly) no reason. I am definitely not running out
of memory. Does anyone know what this error code is?
