nedit gives X-error of failed request - also issues with (x)emacs

nedit needs rebuilding with a patch to work around an issue in lesstif with
the latest X server.
It appears this hasn't happened yet.
If I am understanding this mail  correctly, until this happens, you can
work around the issue by having XLIB_SKIP_ARGB_VISUALS in your enviroment,
e.g. try running nedit like this...
$ export XLIB_SKIP_ARGB_VISUALS=1
and this appears to work for me when I try it.
