Well, searching with Google on the Cygwin site, and all the mailing 
lists (also through Gmane) did not reveal any information about git, nor 
the strong favouritism towards CVS. At least not easily accessible.

I found several Sourceware projects with git mirrors 
(http://sourceware.org/git/) to the CVS repos, and therefore was trying 
to appeal to the developers on this project by going to this mailing 
list directly, instead of the more general and loud Cygwin ML.
