Filenames with Win32 special characters (or: Interix filename compatibility)

Oh, good.  My old nemesis is back.  Now if I check out a project from CVS
with both and onto a case-insensitive filesystem, the first one
will just get silently overwritten, instead of producing an error.

Or is there another way to detect that this happens?
