x86-64: because it is expected to run on an x86-64 CPU (the 64-bit variant
        of the x86 architecture)

linux-2.6.16: because it is expected to run on _at least_ a 2.6.16 kernel.

How is this question related to building a cross-toolchain (which this list
is all about)?
