GNU Emacs bzr compilation, FATAL: kernel too old

Now I get this error also when crosscompiling perl, so something is
definitely wrong with my setup. However, I've been able to
crosscompile many packages flawlessly.

I'd appreciate any pointers on resolving this issue.
