Doh!!! After having a similar discussion today, your e-mail
hit a nerve. "specify -lpthread". DOH! This Makefile I'm
using as my test case _DIDN'T_ specify -lpthread.
Hey, whaddaya know! The static linking worked. Now, if I could
figure out why the thing doesn't do pthread_mutex_lock()'s
correctly. . .

It has been a LONG week.
So, Yann/all,
Anyone ever work with lib rt on Mips? We are having problems
with mutex locking. Like it doesn't even exist or something.
