Hehe! :-) I'm stil strugging to have it properly handled. Unfortunately,
I'm not satisfied with my own code either. I'm just duplicating some
*other* code, and that's only slightly better than your proposal, and not
by much.
Really, it occurred to me that I am missing a bunch of /low-level/ wrappers
and helpers to simply extract a tarball (I mean, getting sure the extract
finished OK, and that we're not trying to over-extract).
Anyway, I think I'll have somthing ready tonight...
