...and is buggy :P This isn't optimal, but works quite good:
echo .:/foo:.:/bar:.:/baz:. |
sed -e "s/:\.:/:/g" -e "s/:\.$//" -e "s/^\.://"
/foo:/bar:/baz
But not if the user pushes it :(
echo .:/foo:.:/bar:.:.:/baz:. |
sed -e "s/:\.:/:/g" -e "s/:\.$//" -e "s/^\.://"
/foo:/bar:.:/baz
