Hi,
I am trying compiling a cross compiler for linux running in cygwin
(build=host = cygwin/target=linux x86), using crosstools-ng-1.5.1
I have got my compilation stopped here :

checking for .popsection assembler directive... no
[ERROR] checking for .protected and .hidden assembler directive...
configure: error: assembler support for symbol visibility is required
[ERROR] Build failed in step 'Installing C library headers / start
files'
[ERROR] Error happened in
'/usr/local/lib/ct-ng-1.5.1/scripts/functions' in function 'CT_DoExecLog'
(line unknown, sorry)
[ERROR] called from
'/usr/local/lib/ct-ng-1.5.1/scripts/build/libc/eglibc.sh' at line # 156 in
function 'do_libc_start_files'
[ERROR] called from
'/usr/local/lib/ct-ng-1.5.1/scripts/crosstool-NG.sh' at line # 544 in
function 'main'
[ERROR] Look at '/test/x-tools/i686-unknown-linux-gnu/build

I googled and found the following similar problem :

enclosed is the build log

Best Regards
