Dimitry, you're right.

To further elaborate, the "core" compiler is needed just to build the C
library. Once the C library is built, then we can build the final, complete
GNU Compiler Collection (which is what GCC stands for nowadays; yes, I know,
gcc stands for GNU C Compiler, but this is the binary, not the full program).
