Crosstool-ng: ct-ng not executable?!

Very odd: after doing a local build, ct-ng isn't executable!  If I just 
chmod +x then all seems in order...

I ran the following steps for crosstool-ng-1.3.1:

	tar xjf crosstool-ng-1.3.1.tar.bz2
	cd crosstool-ng-1.3.1
	./configure --local
	make
	./ct-ng

Reports permission denied, because it isn't actually executable!  How very 
odd.
