Problem building glibc 2.4

Folks -

I am trying to build a GCC 4.1.0 with glibc 2.4 for powerpc and I am
running into a request for support of -mlong-double-128 IBM extended
format support. I have incorporated the patches on top of the 0.42
version of crosstool.

The same configuration of building a i686 cross compiler to itself work
well.

My configuration looks like this:
BINUTILS_DIR=binutils-2.16.91.0.7
GCC_DIR=gcc-4.1.0
LINUX_DIR=linux-2.6.16
GLIBC_DIR=glibc-2.4
GLIBCPORTS_FILENAME=glibc-ports-2.4
GLIBC_ADDON_OPTIONS=nptl
GDB_DIR=gdb-6.4

The result that I get is:
+
/extra/tmp/fenster/build/powerpc-860-linux-gnu/gcc-4.1.0-glibc-2.4/glibc-2.4/configure
--prefix=/usr --build=i686-pc-linux-gnu --host=powerpc-860-linux-gnu
--without-cvs --disable-sanity-checks
--with-headers=/extra/tmp/fenster/crosstool-builds/gcc-4.1.0-glibc-2.4/powerpc-860-linux-gnu/powerpc-860-linux-gnu/include
--enable-add-ons= --without-fp --enable-kernel=2.4.3 --without-tls
--without-__thread --enable-hacker-mode
.
.
.
configure: error: this configuration requires -mlong-double-128 IBM
extended format support

Has anyone run into something similar ?

    Thanks in advance

       Yaacov
