Crosstool 0.43 powerpc-970

Hi!
I'm having som really strange problems with crosstool when I try to  
compile for powerpc-970.

When it tries to build binutils the configure script fails on  
"checking whether the C compiler works":
"C compiler cannot create executables"
I'm trying the demo-script, gcc 4.1.0 and binutils 2.3.6..

What can be wrong? I have gcc version 3.3.5 debian.
