Dan and I have been communicating off line for a few days,
I wanted to let folks know that I was successful in getting some cross
compilers to build for the macbook. I used DarwinPorts. Built it from
cvs source.
Installed gnused (need to ln -s to sed) , gawk, coreutils (need to ln
-s gcp to cp), wget.
I built the following:
./gcc-3.3.2-glibc-2.3.2/mips-unknown-linux-gnu/mips-unknown-linux-gnu/bin/gcc
./gcc-3.3.2-glibc-2.3.2/powerpc-8245-linux-gnu/powerpc-8245-linux-gnu/bin/gcc
(basically a 603e build)
The following failed
powerpc-860 builds failed (one with bad version for ld and as
powerpc-860.dat gcc-3.3.3-glibc-2.3.2.dat (very early on) (can be
worked around with changing the test in glibc to NOT test ld and as
version)
and
powerpc-860.dat gcc-3.4.0-glibc-2.3.2.dat which fails during the final
verification of gcc
(very strange since the glibc configure script appears to have same
test for ld and as)
regards,
Philip
