I have since rebuilt perl half a dozen times, both the Debian sid and
the FC6 perl, for armv4t and armv5te, and haven't reproduced this
miscompilation.
If you used -Os on your build, you can almost certainly make the
miscompilation go away with -O1 or -O2.
