BTW, the GCC 4.0.1 compiler spewed *many* warnings
while compiling the 2.6.x kernel.

I needed to modify some kernel source files to
eliminate some errors in the code no longer tolerated
by GCC. No big deal, just a bit time consuming.

None of this is in the patch (not appropriate),
but I thought others might be interested.

I didn't fix most of the warnings ... but
I hate code that generates warnings. Using -Werror
should be a law ;-)
