Martin,
when you get to building the final glibc-2.2.5 for ppc405 with gcc-4,
it will fail like this:

In file included from ../linuxthreads_db/proc_service.h:20,
                  from ../linuxthreads_db/thread_dbP.h:6,
                  from internals.h:36,
                  from attr.c:23:

That's not a big deal; just create a patch analogous to
http://kegel.com/crosstool/crosstool-0.29/patches/glibc-2.2.5/glibc-2.2.5-allow-gcc-4.0-i386.patch

I'm looking forward to receiving that patch from you :-)

Pretty much all the architectures will need this. I did
a bunch of them for glibc-2.3.[234], but only did i386 for glibc-2.2.5
(which builds fine with gcc-4.0, btw).

I haven't run a single executable, ever, built with gcc-4.0;
I've been too busy getting toolchains to build. So who
knows, more patches will probably be needed to get everything
to work 100% at runtime.
