gcc 3.3.3: start, exit etc. unresolved

Hmmm. I'm not sure where I would put the changes, since there is no 
t-.... file for coff.

But in any case, I think I may have identified the problem: My build 
didn't quite work after all; I actually got compile failure at a certain 
point, but after enough was already there for my build script to assume 
everything was OK, and all files to be generated. Error is:
