I would like to expedite compiling programs for Gentoo on a Pentium
III by using distcc and my Mac PowerBook G4. The Powerbook has a
867Mhz PowerPC 7455 processor and the OS is 10.2.8.

I downloaded crosstools-0.28-rc16 to the Mac. Running demo.sh, which is
equivalent to demo-i686.sh since all other targets are commented-out,
produces the error below. The tools combo is gcc-3.3.2-glibc-2.3.2 to
match those on Gentoo.

Searching the mail archives, I found an email from Stuart Winter that
seems to describe a similar problem. If an expert can confirm it is the
same problem, I will attempt to implement his fix.

Any help will be gratefully appreciated.

Regards, Rick
