how do i actually build and link agains my lovely crossbuildenvironment? :-)

It doesnt appear to be defined by default, doing an echo
$GCC_EXEC_PREFIX yields the empty set.

how did you fix it on cygwin? for that matter, what where the steps you
used to discover the problem on cygwin?
