I wish you wouldn't. The sequence above didn't work; but when I ran
demo.sh everything fell into place (OK - yeah, I did this in a hurry).

SUCCESS ! :)
'/opt/crosstool/i686-unknown-linux-gnu/gcc-3.4.2-glibc-2.3.3/bin' is
full of tools with long filenames.
