How to test ARM pre-built toolchain?

To test the pre-built toolchain, for example,x86 to ARM cross toolchain(
ftp://ftp.arm.linux.org.uk/pub/armlinux/toolchain/cross-3.2.tar.gz ), must
I re-build the toolchain? I just want to test the toolchain.
