Yes -- the way ptxdist fetches its patches is very, very busy,
and I'd like to see some quieter method (like bundling them in
the ptxdist tarball!)

Heh. Disable libnet and libpcap in ptx.config. You don't
need 'em, and they're just causing you grief right now.
