What do configure targets mipsisa32 and mipsisa64 do?

I'm building a cross compiler for MIPS
and I saw the targets "mipsisa32" and "mipsisa64"
in the configure file. Has anybody tried these?

I'm assuming these will produce MIPS32 and MIPS64
ISA instructions if you use them for --target.
